SE Iovis indigne Scarabaeus ab alite sperni
Forte ferens, vindex possit ut esse parat.
Pervestigat ubinam fixerit improba nidum,
Huc repens tacito deicit ova dolo.
Regia saepe domum tunc commutasse volucris,
Profecisse tamen dicitur illa nihil.
Haec quam causa Iovem cogebat adire patronum,
Sustinet aerumnas cui memorare suas.
In gremio qui sponte suo iubet ova reponi,
Quod ratus inprimis hic fore tuta fuit.
Huc etiam vestis Scarabaeo forte per oram
Prorepente, sinum qua bene laxa dabat:
Iuppiter ignorans causam videt ovae moveri,
In terramque pavens reicit illa metu.
Nemo, quantumvis paruo sit corpore, temni
Debet, et ipse tibi cur metuatur, habet.
