Question Markers

Since the Vulgate text is traditionally not punctuated, you will not find questions marked with a question mark. This can be very confusing, since the question mark is a bit of punctuation that we often rely on heavily when reading in English.

Very often, however, Latin uses specific words to introduce questions. Sometimes these are the same as the question markers in English, such as ubi (where), quis (who), quid (what), and so on. There are also some other words that are used in Latin to indicate the beginning of a question, which do not have exact equivalents in English:
