EST fera tota cutem maculis distincta colorum
Pardus, ad hanc Vulpes bestia vafra venit.
Bellua cui formae iactans se nomine praefert,
Qua, prior altercans ut videatur, agit.
Iudice lis anceps censeri coepit Echino,
Quo praesente volens vincere Pardus ait:
Magna manent illos merito praeconia formae,
Suspiciat quorum plurima turba decus.
At ceu, diverso quae flore virentia rident
Prata, voluptatem si tuearis habent:
Sic iucunda cutem variare colore voluptas,
Vel specie qualem me mea forma probat.
Dicere iussa suam quoque dehinc Vulpecula mentem,
Ne foris heus tu me nosce, sed intus ait.
Non ego pellem, animi sed dona sagacia iacto,
Huic oppone tuum tale colore decus.
Rebus ab externis fallacia signa petuntur
De veris animi, quae latuere, bonis.
Saepe quis eximias deformi corpore dotes
Ingenii contra pulcher hebentis habet.
