Greek Syllables and Stress Quiz

Make sure you read carefully the information about finding the number of syllables in a Greek word. There is a lot of material at the website which is not included in Croy, but don't forget to read through Croy as well (Lesson 1 section 4).

You should also take the Practice Test, identifying the number of syllables and the word stress in these Greek names. Those are the kinds of questions you will be asked on the Quiz.

Syllables and Stress Quiz

When you have mastered this material, take the Syllables and Stress Quiz at Desire2Learn. You may take the quiz as often as you want, and the average score of all your attempts is what will be recorded in the Gradebook. The quiz will be available until Monday midnight, August 29.

Here is what you will be asked to do on the quiz:

Syllables: You will need to be able to identify the number of syllables (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) in the Greek names. There will be 10 syllable questions, chosen at random = 50% of the quiz grade.

Stress: You will need to be able to identify the stress (U=ultimate, P=penultimate, A=antepenultimate) in the Greek names. There will be 10 stress questions, chosen at random = 50% of the quiz grade.
